Debuting in the fall of 1978, the science fiction series Battlestar Gallactica pitted good against evil on ABC. Following the popularity of Star Wars in movie theaters, the show featured a colony of humans racing toward Earth while avoiding the Cylons. Lead by Commander Adama, the group encountered the insect-like Ovions of Carillon and the Cyclon Centurian force lead by the Imperious Leader. These figures were produced in 1979 after the first TV series. Despite cancellation in 1979, the popular show returned to TV in 1980 and 2003 and inspired several feature films as well. |
