Carrie Chapman Catt reports to Sewall on business conducted at an International Council of Women Executive meeting in Paris. Under discussion was Sewalls proposed publication of the proceedings of a Berlin meeting(?). Catt also mentions a Norway matter and an Australian matter that were discussed along with terms of office. The executives appointed six delegates to represent the Council at the International Womans Suffrage Alliance meeting in Copenhagen. Catt, at this time, was president of the Alliance and the letter is on International Womans Suffrage Alliance letterhead. We did not do anything of real importance, but we ate much and often.Carrie Chapman Catt was a leader in the woman suffrage movement, succeeding Susan B. Anthony as president of the National American Woman Suffrage Association. She was also one of the founders of the Womens Peace Party during World War I and helped to organize the League of Women Voters after the passage of the 19th Amendment. |
