Description: |
Mrs. Catt states that she does not care who is going to Dresden as the American Delegate since you are going yourself. The Dresden meeting mentioned was an executive meeting of the International Council of Women involved with planning the Quinquennial in Berlin in 1904. She reminds Sewall that there is also to be a suffrage conference at that time and asks her let her know in the fall about possible arrangements for it. The conference was the first meeting of the International Woman Suffrage Alliance where Carrie Chapman Catt will be elected its first president.Carrie Chapman Catt was a leader in the woman suffrage movement, succeeding Susan B. Anthony as president of the National American Woman Suffrage Association. She was also one of the founders of the Womens Peace Party during World War I and helped to organize the League of Women Voters after the passage of the 19th Amendment. |
