Description: This is a digitized recording of a dictabelt, which the Indianapolis Fire Department used to record dispatch calls during the 1960s and 1970s. Following are the calls on this dictabelt: 1) Discussion about shop employee Melvin T. Brown being sent to General Hospital with severe head pain. 2) Car on fire in front of 577 Ransom. 3) Injured man at Richardson Rubber Company Warehouse, 3500 E 20th St. 4) Man fell and injured legs in the rear of 1717 N Talbot. 5) Dispatcher calls around looking for a fire chief to be with Melvin Brown at the hospital. 6) Indianapolis Transit employee reports wires burning on a pole at Ellenberger and Michigan. 7) Further discussion about Melvin Browns condition and what firemen are helping him. 8) Broken water pipe at 1852 N Alabama caller cant reach water company.
