Description:	This is a digitized recording of a dictabelt, which the Indianapolis Fire Department used to record dispatch calls during the 1960s and 1970s. Following are the calls on this dictabelt: 1) Alarm at Womens building, Central State Hospital, box 4255. 2) Several callers asking for help with basement flooding, dispatcher informs them fire department cant help and they need to call a plumber. 3) . 4) Charlie Grubb calls, call ends. 5) Caller asks about sewage fumes, afraid to turn gas back on and didnt know who to call. Dispatcher recommends calling gas co. 6) Water report, hydrant out of service on northwest corner Hillside and 19th. 7) United Press International called to ask how many units were at scene of explosion, 17. Asks for more info, dispatcher says there have been no reports yet and companies are still at scene. 8) Charlie calls back to ask how the situation looks and find out if he can get his family back home. 9) Woman calls to report a buzzing noise in her flooded basement at 4041 Biscayne Rd., concerned about fire risk. Dispatcher says hell send someone to look. 10) Telephone repair service calls to check on service, dispatcher says issue is fixed. 11) Engine 2 calls to report they were on station, and their radio speaker had been called into service by another truck at the fire. Dispatcher sends someone to fix their radio. 12) Kissner calls to ask if any injured firemen were badly hurt, dispatcher says most are back at work. 13) Caller asks if evacuation order had been cleared, dispatcher says all clear. 14) 2442 Station, caller still has water and gas mixed in the basement, cant get it pumped out. Dispatcher tells her she needs a plumber with a portable pump, hell send a district chief to go look at it. 15) 2251 N Lasalle, fire reported. 16) Caller asks if theres been an all clear in the evacuation, dispatcher informs her all is clear.
