This is a digitized recording of a dictabelt, which the Indianapolis Fire Department used to record dispatch calls during the 1960s and 1970s. Following are the calls on this dictabelt: 1) Extended discussion about fire at 62nd Street and Carvel Avenue, dispatcher thought they had a permit to burn. 2) Caller concerned about a smoking washing machine, dispatcher advised caller not to worry if smoking stopped and to call a repairman. 3) Fire reported at side of Wayside Furniture Co. warehouse 720 West Washington Street. 4) Bob Basler called to report a very large fire clearing land at a construction site at 62nd and Carvel, several calls with extended discussion about legality of that kind of fire permit. Engine 2 sent responded. 5) Fire personnel put out all the fires at 62nd street and Carvel Avenue since they were unattended. The person responsible for fire returned and did have a permit, so officers left one fire burning. 6) Caller reported kitchen fire, address inaudible. 7) Extended discussion with Donald Bolinger about burn permits related to fire at 62nd Street and Carvel Avenue.
