Description: This is a digitized recording of a dictabelt, which the Indianapolis Fire Department used to record dispatch calls during the 1960s and 1970s. Following are the calls on this dictabelt: Asking if someone was already on their way to a call at Departments Laundry.; Chief looking for someone. ; Looking for the owner because they had a couple of heads out there, a call had been made to the owner.; Reported use of three air tanks, asking if they could get some more now, dispatch put the call through to the shop.; Charlie Commons calling to ask how they were holding up, small talk and an account of two people on duty.; Gavin Ikea? from the airport calling about several big fires on Indiana Ave. Dispatch told caller there was only one fire at the old market, and the Gavin mentioned not hearing anything about it on the police scanner, and had heard a report that they were trying to burn up the avenue.; Engine 18, Car 19 to contact station 1.; Female caller calling back about a lockout at 3460 N. Pennsylvania Ave. Apt. 3. Reprimanded for calling the station closest to them instead of fire dispatcher.; Female caller reporting a fire at 640 E. 49th St, the Party Pantry was on fire.; Female caller reporting am car fire at the Steak ‘N Shake on 2900 Madison Ave. Dispatched Engine 26 at 9:30 pm.; Report of a car fire at East and Massachusetts, Engine 7 dispatched at 9:56.; Blazic asking if dispatch knew where his red book was, dispatch thought Pat had it. Mac calling asking to put the 7’s back in service.; Female caller reporting a fire at Massachusetts and East.; Male caller reporting fire at E. Walnut with flames above the house.; Male caller reporting that 730 Douglas St was on fire at the rear, same house that was on fire the day before. Engine 1, Engine 6, Truck 1 District 1 directed to omit sirens and red light dispatched to 730 Douglas.; Mr. McClure night managers at Fisher’s on New York and Meridian asking if there was any word about something happening. Female caller looking for a man with a bet on, reporting that he lost that one, banter with dispatcher.; Inspector Charlie Hill calling asking if they need them to come in that night.; Dispatch to District 2 and car 10 to 500 E. Walnut.; All Stations Testing Teletype.; Male caller reporting a large trash fire in the ally at 1715 Oxford in rear garage at 11:09. Engine 2, Engine 7, Truck 27, District 6 dispatched.; Child caller 2416 N E Central. A lot of background chatter.; Male caller asking about a trolley schedule.; Female caller reporting husband with injury’s to legs from falling with numbness from the hips down at 4922 E. 30th St.; Female caller reporting a fire at 1815 N. Talbot St.
