Dispatch call, June 7, 1969, 6:12 PM

Description: This is a digitized recording of a dictabelt, which the Indianapolis Fire Department used to record dispatch calls during the 1960s and 1970s. Following are the calls on this dictabelt: All 800 automobiles at Central State Hospital, dispatched at 7:07pm; Wagner for Fire Station 17 calling, dispatch identified as Charlie, All 800 automobiles mean media automobiles; Male caller asking about the “rumbles” for the evening, dispatch had talked to a female who said it was supposed to have started at 7:00pm. Dispatched talked about the fire at Central State Hospital, Truck 18 requested more man power, District 3 was inside, truck 7 automobile 3 were also dispatched. No robbing of anything as of this time. The male caller stated he had been in the helicopter the previous evening, dispatch asked about fuel and how long it could stay up. Questions about the Assistant Chief, and the call list Dispatcher says they have to call the shop, contact Central State Hospital dispatch per Dr. Seltzer?, Security and Mr. Stocky? At the Fairgrounds. Assistant Chief takes over calling the other shifts and things. Call dispatched to 3047 College at 7:05pm; Engine 19 dispatched to meet automobile 2 at the north end of Central State Hospital at 7:19pm; Dispatched called Magee? At the news asking if they monitored the radios and see if they got the call about the 800s.; Dead air, Dispatch comment on how they can’t get through on their Channel 13 number, and a call to Jack Kaufman the night number, no answer.; Fire Department call to Channel 8 news to confirm whether or not they got the 800 series for 800 automobiles to Central State Hospital, Channel 8 said they monitor the line but no one was listening, dispatch reported the fire at Central State Hospital; Dispatch trying to get ahold of Father Lynch? About possibly coming in to attend the fire at Central State Hospital; Dispatcher England call to Father Will Walnut?, reporting the fire at Central State Hospital letting him know that it was a bad fire and they were trying to get a lot of people out of there, no known fatalities at this time, requested the Father to come out there.; Dispatcher call to Chief Bollinger? Reporting the fire at Central State Hospital, automobile 10 and five engines are there, Chief Bollinger will listen in on the radio and go if further assistance is needed.;
