Description: This is a digitized recording of a dictabelt, which the Indianapolis Fire Department used to record dispatch calls during the 1960s and 1970s. Following are the calls on this dictabelt: Male caller reporting a child struck at 1900 Commerce, Squad 7 dispatched at 2:56pm; Female caller reporting an alley fire at 1538 College dispatched Engine 2, Engine 8, Truck 22, District 2 at 2:59pm; Sargent Shlangen? from IMPD reporting that he had a man in the hit and run office, E112 (first floor of the City County building) who has information about the Molotov cocktails tossed over at Dorman and Michigan, the man has the gas can and other property found there, Chapman, (nickname Chevy?) contacted by Charlie? the dispatcher, regarding the report from Sargent Shlangen?; Caller, Frank Denzio, to dispatcher Charlie, regarding the calls from the previous night and asking whether or not the National Guard had been called; Female caller reporting a brush fire across the street from 4312 E. 46th, at 3:28. Dispatch called the corresponding fire department since the fire was outside of the city; Male caller reporting a car fire, Engine 21 Station 21 dispatched at 3:32; Dispatcher Charlie England? Nickname Chuck, called Chief Blazic looking for Chief Russell with a question about the whole Task Forces being sent out, told that anything sent out under a Code 4 has to be sent across the street no matter what it is you don’t do it by yourself. Everything has to be checked out. Blazic explaining about how task forces are being sent out, and the processes that need to happen; Female caller (a custodians wife) asking if people could burn rubbish, reporting an older woman had reported a fire in a barrel at 1649 N. Alabama between two buildings in the shrubs and trees. The fire has to be at least 10 foot from a building, asked to call the Fire Prevention Bureau but they are closed on Saturday’s; Last two minutes of recording is dead air
