This is a digitized recording of a dictabelt, which the Indianapolis Fire Department used to record dispatch calls during the 1960s and 1970s. Following are the calls on this dictabelt: 1.) House fire at 35 79 Byrd Drive. 2.) 58-57 East 38th Street, gasoline going under a mans house from local Imperial Station. 3.) 849 Indiana Avenue, man passed out at grocery store. 4.) Man asking about building a swimming pool, told to contact water department. 5.) 22-14 North Alabama, house on fire reported. 6.) Engine 5 involved in accident, vehicle needs wrecker at 22nd Illinois. 7.) Dick Darragh at FBI office, call to FBI office by Johnny Jones, a likely pseudonym, man was asking about Here Apartment fire and a missing officer. Caller implied some pertinent information about fire to be found at Boydens Bakery at 38 & Massachusetts Avenue. 8.) Dispatcher asks informs other dispatcher about citizens earlier request for permission to burn debris from a vacant lot cleared as part of a high school student civic project. 9.) Call to reach Kenny Taylor, asking him to make a run to district five to Imperial station at 58-57 East 38th Street in response to earlier call. Dictabelt |
