Harrison, William Henry, Vincennes, to William Eustis, Secretary of War

Description: Harrison informs Eustis of events transpiring in the Territory. He discusses William Wellss part in an intrigue in which the Wea Indians have been mislead as to President Madisons opinion of a recent treaty. He relays information on the activities in Prophettown as acquired by a Winnebago chief. He lauds Thomas Jeffersons service to the country, although he believes that a political error encouraged the Indian agents to preserve friendships between the various Indian tribes in the Territory.
