Description: |
This interior view of Griffin's dry goods store in Corydon, Indiana, reveals the wide range of merchandise that the store carried. Customers could choose from clothing and shoes of various kinds and purchase fabric by the yard (notice bolts of material on counter at left). The photo was taken during the store's 50th anniversary sale in 1947. The large central stairway was constructed in 1920 to replace earlier stairs near the entrance and to ease access to additional goods on the second floor. Griffin's remained in business on the square in Corydon until 1983. |
