Rush Boone and Maurice Griffin inside Griffins store

Description: Rush Boone (at left) and Maurice Griffin (right) stand in front of shelving in Griffins dry goods store in Corydon, Indiana. Maurice Griffin (1873-1951) entered the mercantile business with his father, Patrick Griffin, in 1897. Four of Maurices six siblings also were involved in the family firm throughout their lifetimes. Maurices youngest son, Frederick Porter Griffin, joined the firm as well and eventually became its sole proprietor. The Griffin store closed permanently in 1983 as the oldest retail business in Corydon.
