Description: |
Helen Porter Griffin (1844-1940). Helen was the daughter of Judge William A. and Elizabeth McClelland Porter of Corydon, Indiana. With the exception of the time she spent pursuing an education at an Indianapolis seminary as a young woman and the first year of her marriage, Helen resided her entire life in her childhood home, the Porter-Griffin House, which is now a state owned historic site. Helen married Corydon merchant Patrick Griffin and together they raised seven children in the Porter-Griffin home. The Griffins operated a dry goods store in Corydon for many years. |
