A horse-drawn carriage and horses are in the foreground, and several bicycles can be seen amongst the crowd, which includes both men and women. Train tracks and what appears to be an open-air trolley car packed with people are at the center of the photo, and in the distance is a locomotive with numerous people sitting on top of it. Lettering on the side of the train reveals it to be part of the Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe Railway. This railway system was founded in 1859 and was one of the largest in the U.S. |
