Karl Kae Knecht Cartoon

Description: Santa Claus stands in the top left corner of the cartoon in front of a sign indicating that it is Friday, December 13th. He laughs at the idea that the day is unlucky and says that it is actually lucky because the stores are open late to allow people to get their shopping done. He pats Public on the head as Mrs. Public drags him off to do their shopping. A reindeer standing next to Santa says that people are funny. Bottom left: View of a ranch-style house decorated for Christmas, with lights, garlands, a snowman, and a nativity scene in the front yard. Top right: View of Saters department store decorated to look like a Christmas present. Center right: Drawing of the tall Christmas tree on display at Lawndale Shopping Center. Bottom right: Santa Claus, wearing his traditional suit with a firemans hat, holds up a small package. A caption tells readers to get free fire prevention powder at hose houses, to prevent Christmas tree fires.
