Karl Kae Knecht Cartoon

Description: Illinois, Indiana, and Kentucky (men with heads shaped like their respective states) discuss the issue of Daylight Savings Time. Illinois comments that he will be champ of confusion until July 1, when D.S.T. becomes compulsory for the entire state; right now, 80% of the state is on D.S.T. Indiana responds that some people tried to get the legislature to stop making the time change compulsory, but that the effort failed. Kentucky says that the entire state is on D.S.T. from April 26 to October 31, and that part of the state is on it year-round. A clock hanging on the wall behind Kentucky taps Indiana on the back of the head and says that D.S.T. starts on Sunday at 2 a.m. Knechts elephant looks at his watch and says that all or part of 24 states are on D.S.T.
