Karl Kae Knecht Cartoon

Description: A huge elephant representing the Ohio River occupies the center of the cartoon. A staircase representing Evansville bridges allows men to climb up and over the elephants back and then down the other side. The elephants tusks are labeled Evansville River Terminal; it holds a piece of wood in its trunk. A box on its back holds cranes and crates, presumably representing cargo that is shipped on the river. Dams on the river and the power they produce are represented by a harness across the elephants chest and attached to each of its legs. Ohio River walks behind another elephant representing Other Streams; it is followed by a third elephant.
