Karl Kae Knecht Cartoon

Description: Letters and cartoon from contributors. A cartoon drawn by a soldier in the Pacific comparing the company mates perception of how quickly the mail is delivered (mailman sleeps on a mattress strapped to a tortoise) and the way the mailman thinks he delivers the mail (outrunning a hare). Appeals to stop needless noise. Reprint of an earlier Knecht cartoon on the subject. Letter from an Iowan couple who considered moving to Evansville but decided not to because of the noise.

From some contributors. From Dale Bruner on a far away Pacific isle this cartoon drawn by his chief, Matt Drysdale CCM. How company mates think the mailman delivers their mail. And how the mailman thinks he delivers it. US Mail. A very good cartoon. How about this one on the downtown taverns, clubs, etc., with loud juke boxes playing all day and far into the night--a worker trying to get some sleep. 79. Bang. and now the heat. And as Kate Smith says, if you dont write--youre wrong. Look you forgot the street vendors, whistles, bells or yells. How Many Times Must You Be... Stop Needless Noise. Inconsiderate people. Junior. Open windows. Noisy late parties. Late at night and daytime too when the night shift tries to sleep. Quiet Please. War Worker Resting. We are a couple from Iowa--like Evansville much but cant get a house and cant rest with constant noise--so were going back home. We have to live in a trailer--we both work--but cant rest in such surroundings, so we must leave.
