Description: The jurors for the United States of America and body of Knox County on their oath present that Solomon Henson, alias Solomon Frances, yeoman of Busseron Township and Peter Whetstone, yeoman of the same place, did on September 11, 1815 with force and arms at Busseron Township take two geldings of the value of $25 each. The owner of the gelding horses was unknown. They were charged with feloniously stealing and leading away against the peace and dignity of the United States statue of law. William Prince, Attorney for Knox County signed the indictment with Robert Knox and James Davis signing as witnesses. A subpoena indictment was filed against Solomon Frances and Peter Whetstone for larceny. The Sheriff was commanded to summon Robert Knox and James Davis to court to appear before the judges of the Circuit Court the first Monday of March. A $100 penalty would be applied if they did not appear. The subpoena was filed February 19, 1816 by R. Buntin, Clerk. B. V. Beckes, Sheriff states that the defendants in the case were not found. He also stated that he therefore did not subpoena the witnesses. The United States commanded the Sheriff to take Solomon Frances and Peter Whetstone to court the first Monday of March next to answer to charges on an indictment preferred against them for larceny. This was filed by R. Buntin, February 14, 1816. B. V. Beckes, Sheriff stated that the defendants were not found in his bailiwick so he could not serve the subpoena. The Sheriff of Knox County is again summoned to take Solomon Frances and Peter Whetstones bodies before the judges of the Circuit Court to be held at Vincennes. They were to appear the first Monday of June on an indictment preferred against them for larceny. This summons was filed April 8, 1816 by R. Buntin, Clerk. B. V. Beckes, Sheriff states that the defendants are not in his bailiwick. The Sheriff of Knox County is commanded again by the Indiana Territory to take Solomon Frances and Peter Whetstone before the judges of the Circuit Court on the last Monday of September 1816. They were to answer to an indictment preferred against them for larceny. R. Buntin Clerk signed as witness September 11, 1816. B. V. Beckes stated that they were not found where on to serve the subpoenas. The Prosecuting Attorney on behalf of the U. S. says they will no longer prosecute and the case is dismissed.
