Graeter, Fredrick vs. Ambrois Dagenet

Description:	The file contains the documents related to the law suit that Frederick Graeter brought against Ambrosie Dagnay for failure to paid a debt. A Summons was issued for Ambroise Dagenay so he would appear before the Court of Common Pleas on the third Monday of March 1810. He was to answer unto Frederick Graeter in a plea he render $40.58 he owed and damages of $100.00. The Summons was issued by R [Robert] Buntin, Clerk, CPKC. On the verso side, this action brought on a note of hand bail is required for $42.58. Johnston, P.Q. The Summons was executed by J. McCandless, D.S. He wrote executed and Defendant gave bail bond. Bail John B. LaPlante. The second document was the bail bond document signed by Ambroise Dagnay and John B. LaPlant. They posted bail bond of $85.16 to ensure Dagenay would appear the third Monday of March 1810 to answer to Frederick Graeter that he render $42.58. Signed A. Dagenay and the mark of John B. LaPlant, witnessed by John McCandless. The third document was the Complaint filed during the March Term 1810 by Johnston, P.Q. for Graeter. It stated that Dagenet should render unto him the sum of $42.58. On May 13, 1808, he signed a Promissory Note for value received to be paid in the month of March. Graeter had requested payment of the debt, but he had not paid back the money. Also on the document it stated that Frederick Graeter put in Gen. W. Johnston as his attorney in this case. According to the Minute Book of the Knox County Court of Common Pleas, page 252: during the July Term 1810, the Plaintiff appeared and ordered the suit dismissed. The Defendant, by his friend, Toussaint Dubois, came and paid the costs.
