An agreement to pay Ruben Allsup on his order or assignees 4 shillings, 6 pence, to wit, $.75 for each and every gallon of whiskey delivered by John Johnson in one cask supposed to contain 70 gallons or more or less to be discharged September 27, 1809. The covenant is signed before John Johnson, J. Marney and Jonathan Stockenger. The Sheriff of Knox County is commanded to bring Jonathan Marney and Jonathan Kockrem to your bailiwick and bring them to court the last Monday of November 1809. They are to answer unto Ruben Allsup in a Plea of Covenant Broken. He is asking for additional damages in the amount of $150. The document is signed R. Buntin, Clerk on October 7, 1809. G. W. Johnston is the attorney for the plaintiff, who requests bail of $52.50 the summons is executed by James Crow, Deputy Sheriff. The cost to serve is listed as $2.79. He also asks for $150 damage in addition to what was owed to him. Reuben Allsup puts in his place General W. Johnston in an Action of a Covenant Broken. A recognizance bond for Jonathan Cockrum, Jonathan Marney and Jonathan Welton is filed on November 10, 1809. The bond is in the amount of $105 . They are to appear in court the last Monday of November 1809 to answer unto Reuben Allsup on an Act of Covenant Broken. The complaint is signed by Jonathan Marney, Jonathan Welton and Jonathan Cockram. A subpoena is issued for John Adams to come to court on March 20, 1810 to give evidence on behalf of Jonathan Marney. Jonathan Marney is the defendant in a suit where in Reuben Allsup is the plaintiff in a Plea of Covenant Broken. A $100 penalty will be applied for nonappearance. The subpoena is filed March 19, 1810 by R. Buntin, C.P.K.C. and executed by James Crow Deputy Sheriff. The cost to serve is listed as $1.66 1/2. |
