Nowland, Thomas vs. William Henry Harrison (admin) of Jean Francis Hamtramck estate and Jesse B. Thomas in right of his wife Rebecca Hamtramck Thomas 1808

Description:	The file contains the documents related to Thomas Nowlands suit against the estate of Jean Francis Hamtramcks estate. A Complaint was filed by G.W. Johnston, for Thomas Nowland, stating that Jean Hamtramck, while in Detroit, owed him $204.38 1/2. He was suing the administrators of the estate, William Henry Harrison and the widow of Hamtramck, Rebecca Hamtramck Thomas and asking for damages of $300. Summons were issued for William Henry Harrison, Jesse B. Thomas and his wife Rebecca Hamtramck Thomas to appear in court during the 1807 March Term. The Summons was written by Robert Buntin, Clerk. On the reverse side I will appear for defendants. John Jones, atty. The summons was executed by P [Parmentas] Beckes, Sheriff and had $.46 1/2 fees added. A Subpoena was issued for George Wallace, Junior to appear on the third Monday in March 1808 to give evidence on behalf of Harrison and the Thomas. The Subpoena was written by Robert Buntin, Clerk. On the reverse sidenot found. by Samuel Hayes, D. S. According to the Minute Book of the Knox County Court of Common Pleas, on motion of the Plaintiffs attorney, it was ordered that any to justices of the peace in Detroit take a deposition. The suit was continued during the July Term 1807 and the November Term 1807. During the March Term 1808, The Plaintiff appeared by General W. Johnston and discontinued his suit. A motion of the Defendants that they recover their costs and expenses. Court costs were $11.85 1/2.
