On March 1807 Daniel Devine promises to pay Thomas Jones the sum of $85.11 with interest. He also binds himself for the sum of $177 if he fails to pay the amount owed. Daniel Devine authorizes any attorney to appear for him and confesses to owing the debt. The document is signed July 14, 1806 by Daniel Devine and witnessed by Thomas Jones, Jr. and Joseph Lavoette. A notation on the back of the document states that on July 15, 1806, Devine paid to William Lindsay 1 cow in the value of $14. A document is filed showing the cost of court in the case totals $5.50. |
