The file contains documents related to the suit, Ann, a mulatto and indentured servant, brought against James Trimble and his wife. The complaint filed in the November Term 1807, accused James Trimble and his wife of ill usage and cruel treatment. A summons was issued for James Trimble to appear in the Knox County Court of Common Pleas on December 3, 1807 to answer the charges. The summons was issued by Robert Buntin, Clerk, and executed by Samuel Hayes, Deputy, with $.46 1/2 fees. A second summons was issued by Robert Buntin on December 4, 1807 for Zachariah Price and Ann his wife; George B. Weigart and wife; and John McKee and his wife to testify on Anns complaint against James Trimble, her master. This summons was executed by Samuel Hayes, Deputy with fees of $2.34. The court of December 5, 1807, stated that on Recognizance of $200, James Trimble shall not in future abuse or unreasonably chastise his servant during the time she remains in his service or control.
