The file contains the documents related to the suit Thomas Jones brought against the administrators of the Daniel Mc Fall estate. During the July Term of the 1807 Court of Common Pleas, Thomas Jones filed a complaint against Peter Ruby and Abraham Snapp, the administrators of the Daniel Mc Fall estate. The complaint requests payment of a promissory note written on January 13, 1805 to Thomas Jones, merchant, for 13 pounds, 18 shilling, and 6 pence ($46.42) and signed by Peter Ruby, Daniel McFall, and James Purcell. It was witnessed by Berry Brumfield and Sam Carr. The complaint written by General W. Johnston, attorney for the Plaintiff, also ask for damages of $100. The Defendants, Peter Ruby and Jonathan Purcell, represented by attorney, Henry Hurst, responded that they had fully paid the debt. The Plaintiffs attorney, Johnston, replied, the debt had not been paid. Also included was a document of debt for Thomas Jones for the building of a ware house and a judgement obtained before George Wallace against Stephens Ford by merchandise of $200. Summons for Peter Ruby, Abraham Snapp, and James Purcell where issued by Robert Buntin for the July Term 1807. Summons were also issued by Robert Buntin, Clerk, for George Wallace, William Purcell, and John Smith. The court cost and damages totaled $75.69 1/2. |
