Description: The file contains the documents related to the law suite Mary Ann Junkins the administrator of the Anthony Junkins estate brought against Daniel Devine and John Thickston for an unpaid promissory note in 1806. According to the complaint filed by John Johnson, the attorney for Mary Ann Junkins; Daniel Devine and John Thickston had not paid a debt of $23.25 they owed to the Plaintiff. The complaint also asked for $15.00 in damages. On July 5, 1806, Robert Buntin, Clerk, issued a summons for Daniel Devine and John Thickston to appear in the Court of Common Pleas during the July Term 1806. Bail was required and the summons was executed by A. [Abraham] Defrance, Deputy Sheriff. Bond was posted by Daniel Devine, John Thickston and Jacob Pancake [Pancatt] for the Recognizance of Devine and Thickston. The Promissory Note was written on November 30, 1804 to Mary Ann Junkins the administrator of the estate of Anthony Junkins for $23.25 for value received by Daniel Devine and John Thickston [Thixton]. According to the Minute Book of the Court of Common Pleas 1801-1806, the Defendants did not appear in court and a judgement was given to the Plaintiff of $23.25, Interest of $1.44 and court costs.
