Description: The file contains the documents related to the suit the John B. Drennon [Drennin Drinning] Estate brought against John Myer for failure to pay back a $100 Promissory Note with interest due of $104.25. The case was filed in 1838. In a court transcript filed 12-18-1838 and signed by Johathan Collins, Justice of the Peace, the plaintiff, Isaac Coon, brought suit against John Myer for a promissory of $100 and interest due, ($104.25) from 10-15-1819. The case was continued twice and then moved to the Knox County Probate Court. In a response for the defendant by Attorney, R.N. Carnan, states that when John B. Drennon died, on 12-29-1820, Abraham Snapp was the administrator of the Estate for three years and then Snapp died and nothing was done on the estate until Isaac Coon filed letters to become the administrator of the Estate. A third document was depositions given by Susannah and Isaac Coon regarding their knowledge about the Promissory Note written to John B. Drennon by John Myers. The Promissory Note written by John Myers to John B. Drennon was for $100.00 with interest from October 15, 1819. It was witnessed by B. Beckes. On the note was written: Note $100.00, interest on Note to 1838 $104.25 Total : $204.25. Filed December 18, 1838 by A Sheperd, Deputy Clerk. Included in the file was another note. Due David Coons from valued received $32.10. March 8. 1820. Signed J. Drennon and witnessed by J. C. Elston. The final document was a statement by John Myers in a deposition before Jonathan Collins, stating that in 1820 or 1821, he paid the sum of $50.00 to Abraham Snapp but lost the receipt. Additionally, Myers said he paid another $23.50 on the note.
