Samuel Anderson and George Murphy vs George Miles, admin. of Elijah Purcell deceased 1842

Description:	The file contains the documents related to Doctors Anderson and Murphy suite against the Elijah Purcell Estate for unpaid medical bills. Included in the file is the bill of complaint, two requests for subpoenas and five subpoenas. In the bill of complaint, Doctors Anderson and Murphy complain that Elijah Purcell became endebted to the doctors for treating Elijah and the Purcell family for diseases, disorders and maladies. The bill was $90, but they were asking for $270 in damages from the estate. The attorney for the Plaintiffs, requested subpoenas for Doctor Joseph Simes and Mrs. Purcell and Frederick Stipes of Daviess County to Testify for the Plaintiffs. On Febraury 18, 1842, George Wiles asked to have Frederick Stipes, David Stipes, Dr. Knox and Michael Purcell subpoenaed for the Defendant. A summons was issued for Geroge Wills to answer to a Plea of Trespass for $270 at the February Term 1842 at the Probate Court. The summons was issued by W.R. McCord, Clerk and executed by Sheriff, Abraham Smith with $1.32 fees attached. A subpoena was issued for Fredrick Stipes and Dr. Knox to appear in Knox County Probate Court during the February Term. It was issued by W. R. McCord and executed by Daviess County Sheriff Mithill (?) with $2.05 fees attached. David Stipes and Michael Purcell were subpoenaed to appear in Probate Court on behalf of the Defendants.The subpoena was issued by W.R. McCord and executed by Sheriff Abraham Smith with $2.29 fees attached. Frederick Stipes was subpoenaed to testitfy for the Plaintiffs in the February Term of Knox County Probate Court. This subpoena was issued by W.R. McCord, Clerk, and executed by the Daviess County Sheriff with $1.67 attached fees. The last subpoena was for Mrs. Purcell and Joseph Somes to appear at the February Term. The subpoena was issued by W.R. McCord, Clerk, and executed by Sheriff Abraham Smith with $1.57 in fees.
