James Edwards vs Samuel Bedles deceased 1845

Description: The file contains two account sheets. One sheet of James S. Edwards with Samuel Bedles for bacon, beef and grain products. The other account is for Samuel Bedles with James Edwards and lists items such as axletree and coffins. The account sheet of James Edwards with Samuel Bedles listed numerous pounds of bacon purchased from 1841 though 1845. The bacon sold for nine cents per pound in 1841. In 1842, bacon sold for four cents per pound and in 1845 it sold for five cents per pound. In 1842, corn sold for twenty-five cents per bushel, oats at eighteen cents per bushel, and a quarter of beef at one dollar. The total account was $46.96. The account Bedles had with James Edwards ran from July 1841 to October 1843. It included the following: Two axeltrees and bolster $4.00, filling one hind wheel for wagon of George Bedel $.40, gears of one three horse wagon $26.00, haling logs with wagon and steers one day $1.50, coffin for child $5.10, stocking one Dee (?) plow $1.00, coffin $7.00, frame of wagon bed $10.00. The total account was for $55.00 The accounts were filed August 18,1845 by W.R. McCord, Clerk.
