United States with Henry Wyant vs James Bennett, William B. Lindsey and Joseph Robinson

Description: The suit involves the guardian of Joseph, James and George Snyder and James Bennett and use of the wards trust fund. In the file are guardianship documents, a subpoena, an affidavit by William Lindsey, and revoking the bonds of James Bennett, William Lindsey, and Joseph Robinson. One January 17, 1831, James M. Bennett was appointed guardian of the children of William and Susannah Snyder, James, George and William Snyder. James Bennett, William Lindsey, and Joseph Robinson each put up two hundred dollars security bond. On March 6, 1832 Bennett documented that he received two hundred dollars of dividends from Susannah Snyder, administrator. He had prior to this date received thirty-two dollars and eighty-nine cents. The note was witnessed by D. C. Johnson. In February 1833, William Lindsey, filed a complaint to Judge George Ewing stating that he believed Bennett had used the trust fund monies to pay his own debts and was wasting the estate. Additionally, he felt he would be responsible for the bond money he had put up as security for Bennett. Signed by Sam Smith 2 Clerk pro tem. A complaint was filed by the Untied States with Henry Wyant, guardian, against James Bennett, William Lindsey, and Joseph Robinson for debt in the February 1835 Term. Subpoenas were issued for the three to appear in court in February by A.D. Scott. John Purcell executed the subpoenas. On the back of the subpoena is documentation that John Myer and Noah Purcell acted as special bail for James Bennett. George Kansler acted as special bail for Joseph Robinson, and Henson Harbin was special bail for William Lindsey.
