United States vs John Huling

William Elliot vs. United States

Description: The file contains four Recognizances and bonds involving John Huling and William Elliot. A complaint was made against John Huling for purchasing a horse from an Indian named Baptist. William Elliot has two Recognizances written on July 18, 1805 by George Wallace, JPKC. One is with a bond of twenty dollars and a co-bond by William Spencer for ten dollars. He was to appear in court in the August Term to answer on complaint by John Huling. On the back of the twenty dollar bond is written Discharged. On the back of the bond for two hundred and fifty dollar bond is written Recognizance forfeited August Term 1805. William Elliot was to testify in the August term against John Huling. John Huling has two Recognizances written on July 18, 1805 by George Wallace, JPKC. One has a bond of thirty dollars and he is to appear in the August Term 1805 to testify against William Elliot. On the back of this recognizance is written discharged. The other Recognizance has a five hundred dollar bond with co-bond of Joshua Jordan. Huling is to appear in court during the August term to answer to complaint of purchasing a horse from an Indian named Baptiste contrary to an Act of Congress. On the back of this document is written discharged.
