The last will and testament dated May 13, 1812 of John T. Sublett of Woodford, Ky. is filed. Persons named in the will are Marium Gibney (illegitimate daughter) born to him by Catherine Gibney, brothers Lewis, James, and Abraham and his sister Francis Vaughn. John T. Sublett states he is the owner of a ferry at the mouth of Green Creek, which he leaves part of to his daughter and part to his brothers Lewis and James. To his brother Abraham he leaves his horse, to his sister $30 to purchase a locket. A complaint was filed against Ambrose Coleman for not settling the estate of John T. Sublett who died Oct 1812. On December 7, 1812 letters of administration were filed in the Court of Common Pleas giving Ambrose Coleman together with Joshua Bond and Elihu Stout his securities, with a bond of $500 for the Administration of the Sublett estate. The complaint is due to Coleman for not settling the Sublett estate and it was filed January 16, 1833. A summons is issued for Joshua Bond, resident of Illinois. The summons was filed February 12, 1833 by Samuel Smith, Clerk. A petition to the clerk to publish ads and copy the order of publication was filed March 15, 1833. A copy of an ad placed in the Western Sun newspaper dated April 22, 1833 asking Joshua Bond to appear in court. Elihu Stout swears in open court, before Jonathan Collins, J. P. that the ad was in the newspaper for 3 weeks. The document was filed November 12, 1834, by A. D. Scott. A summons for Joshua Bond and Elihu Stout to appear in court during the February term. A bond that Thomas Bailey took out on March 12, 1834 against himself for Bond and Stout in the amount of $100. The petition was signed by Jonathan Law. Elihu Stout and Joshua Bond are given notice that on October 18, 1834, John Collins, Esp. J. P. of Montgomery Co. In. will be at Crawfordsville taking the deposition of Ambrose Whitlock and others. That the depositions will be used in the suit where they are defendants. Signed by John Law, Vincennes, September 30, 1834. A deposition of James Stuart was given before John Collins, Esq. J. P. of Knox Count. On August 12, 1835. He says he served with John T. Sublett as a Ranger in Captain Mc Dulls Co. and that he was killed in 1813 at the Spur Defeat and that Sublett owned a horse and clothing and that both were sold at his death. |
