Description: This is the Grand Army of the Republic application of Abraham R. Turner, dated April 20, 1899. Abraham first enlisted in April (day omitted) 1861 as Private in Company A 8th Regiment of the Illinois Infantry and was discharged in August (day omitted) 1861. Abraham re-enlisted on March 31, 1865 as Sergeant in Company I 13th Regiment of the Indiana Volunteer Infantry and was discharged on September 5, 1865. Abrahams application was recommended by Lawrence Burget. Examining Committee members were William Edington, Russel Cole, and G. Long. Applicant Elected and Mustered May 4, 1899. No. on Des. Book: 736. James W. Haley, Adjutant; J.H. Mullen, Post Commander. NOTE: On Back, states Served in Company I 13th Regiment Indiana as John Daugherty.
