Description: This is the Grand Army of the Republic application of Matthew Hughes, dated April 16, 1885. Matthew first enlisted on August 1, 1862 as a Private in Company F 127th Regiment of the Pennsylvania Volunteers and was discharged on May 29, 1863. Matthew re-enlisted on August 6, 1864 as a Private in Company D 201st Regiment of the Pennsylvania Volunteers and was discharged on June 21, 1865. Matthews application was recommended by Philip Andrews. Examining Committee members were J.H. Henderson and Hamilton Elliott. Applicant Elected April 16, 1885 and Mustered May 7, 1885. No. on Des.
