This doll is an all cloth doll representing a World War I soldier. The head is cloth and made in five pieces. The body is all cloth, with the head and face whipped together and the chin is drawn. The face piece is whipped onto the chest of the body. The legs are whipped onto the trunk of the body. The hair and eyes are painted black. The mouth is painted. The doll is in excellent condition and stands 20 inches (50.8 cm) tall. The doll is dressed in a hand-made khaki uniform with hat and boots.•aThe doll was made around 1917 in the Womens prison in Indianapolis, Indiana USA. The inmates manufactured dolls. The doll was a gift to the donor by one of the matrons of the prison. |
