The design received nationalrecognition which included the Gold Medical Device Excellence Award, and recognition from Design Newsmagazine which awarded his design first place in its Excellence in Design Competition. Before accepting his management position at CardioVention in Santa Clara, Calif., Brian was StrategicMarketing Director for the Ethicon Division of Johnson & Johnson. He directed global strategic and marketopportunity assessments to decide where the company would invest in emerging technologies. His firstjob after earning the bachelors degree in chemical engineering in 1982 from Rose-Hulman and subsequentmasters and doctoral degrees in chemical engineering from Arizona State University, was with COBELaboratories in Denver in 1989. At COBE, he worked on development projects for blood oxygenators anddirected the development of CO BEs biomaterials development. These products are current market leaders.Brian holds four patents and has three patent applications pending.
