This is a color photograph of the William Tenbrook Jr. house one and a quarter miles west of Rockville on US 36 in Parke County, Indiana. A two-story wooden frame house its front gable roof has a decorative scalloped edging along the eave as well as both a front and side porch. William (1826-1911), son of William and Jane Brown Tenbrook, was born in Annapolis. IN and attended Bloomingdale Academy. He married Martha Tate (1834-1913), daughter of John and Jane Lemin Tate 18 May 1854. He was in the nursery business and also had the William Tenbrook lumber yard on the south side of Rockville. He worked in merchandising in both Howard and Montezuma during the Canal era later selling that business to his brother Garrett in 1862 after which he bought the farm outside Rockville. This item was donated by Charles Davis. |
