This is a black and white photograph of District School #9 also known as the Odell School in Parke County, Indiana. Students can be seen seated in the foreground outside the wooden frame school. In pencil on the back is written Mothers school #9. The Odell school was located in the southwest corner of Greene Township one half mile west of US 59. It was abandoned in 1919 and in 1930 was purchased by Lester Sewel and moved to Portland Mills. It was later moved to Waveland, Indiana and used as a garage. This information came from the book A Century of Education 1868-1968 Greene Township. This item was donated by the Don McCue family. |
