Knox County court record for, William Miner vs Anderson Ember and Eli Ember, 1837

Description: A summons was issued November 4, 1837 and returnable November 11 at which time the Constable came and returned the same duly served the case being called the defendants appeared and Samuel G. Minard appears for the plaintiff after hearing the evidence and all things it was adjudged the plaintiff recover the defendants thirty eight dollars with interest there until paid together with cost of suit, George K. Ockiltree, J. P. November 16, 1837. Anderson Ember and Eli Ember appeal the case. They present information on debt owed to them by producing a not given to them by William Minard and Daniel Minard for July 14, 1837 for $180 which is on file at the county courthouse. The debt is for money owed to them for working on a boat and purchased items of planks, steering, bow and oars to construct a boat. Minard states that there was payment made to them for this and no agreement since then. Samuel Wilson and Thomas Black are brought in to testify and they verify that a note due to Anderson Ember is filed in a suit of Henry Winemiller vs William and James Minard on January 20, 1838, per George Ewing, Attorney for the defendants.
