On May 1, 1840 Sarah Davis and Thomas Walker personally came before a Justice of the Peace and acknowledge themselves to owe the State of Indiana the sum of twenty-five dollars to be levied on their goods, chattels, lands and tenements. Sarah Davis comes before the Judge and answers to the said State of Indiana on a charge of assault and battery on Barbara Harclutter or on any others. Filed July 17, 1840 by William R.
