Ray Sharp, of Lafayette.ECLECTIC.The membership of the Eclectic Literary Society in following out their plans for the term,have given three interesting programs. Thefirst dealt with the life of Dunbar. MissErnest gave an interesting account of his life,and Miss Steepleton gave two readings fromhis poems which were much appreciated.The next author taken up was Kipling. Adiscussion of his life and works was given byMiss Dunn, after which Miss Grey gave oneof his, Just So Stories.At the last meeting a study of the life andworks of Tolstoi was given briefly, but on account of the many interesting things to bestudied it was decided to hold the discussionover for two meetings.On the evening of October 30, the society, inresponse to Miss Steepeltons invitation, wentto the Outland farm, where a delightful evening was spent. The main feature of the evening was the toasting of marshmellowTs androasting of wienies over a large bon-fire in theorchard. The members present were: MissesGustin, Steepelton, Overpeck, Maehling, Taylor, Maize Elliott, Stinkard, Sage, Ernest,Beaver and Gertrude Elliott.THE FORUM.The society has been doing excellent workduring the past month. The meetings haveshown very much enthusiasm, while the workof the individual members has been unexcelled.On Friday evening, Oct. 30, the Alumnimembers of the Forum gave their annual danceat Indianapolis in Odeon Hall. AndrewMercker represented the members who are nowin school. At this meeting James Mackell waselected president, and Guy Johnson, secretary-treasurer for the coming year.Bunny Glenn D. Brown, a former IndianaUniversity student, has been elected to membership of the society.At this writing the Forum is putting forthits efforts in preparing for the Good LuckDance, which is to be given at the PhoenixClub, Friday, Nov. 13. This is the first socialaffair of this kind ever given by the society.About forty invitations have been sent out tofriends.PHILOMA THE AN.At the meeting held October twenty-third,Miss Hilda Hathaway reviewed most enter -taingly, The Egoist, and Miss Hazel Schaper discussed the life of Meredith. On Octoberthirty-first, Miss Marjorie Cuppy told the storyof Diana of the Crossways, followed by ageneral review of Merediths works by MissLois Shirley.On November seventh, the attention of themembers was turned to De Morgan, and MissNorma Wilson gave the story of his Alice-For-Short, in a very interesting manner.The Philomatheans are well pleased with thework that has been done, and the interestshown.Miss Lela Stephens has been recently takeninto the society.THE TROJANS.The Trojans began the year with a rush. Ameeting was called the first day of the term,and the following members answered the firstroll call: J. R. Shannon, P. W. Merchant,George Cromwell, Fred Strickler, V. R. Gunn,L. L. Standley, C. E. Riehl and C. M. French.The plans of the year were made and a strenuous program was arranged for the terms wTork.Since then the following new members havebeen taken into the society: N. B. Henson, M.F. Perry, G. T. Tranbarger, Bert Leech andJohn Henderson.The Trojans were organized during the
