Suchvictories are Avell worth striving for, and promote school spirit, as well as a high standardof literary efficiency which will inevitably putNormal on the winning side.DAEDALIANS.Daedalianism is flourishing. Seventeen mem-bers are on the roll this term. One honorarymember, Prof. Parker, occasionally gracesthe meetings with his dignified presence. Theprograms have been given more variation. recently, and less emphasis has been laid on debating than formerly. Discussions and paperson subjects from the fields of popular science,current literature, etc., have been given placeon the programs. Lest these should grow tooprofound, a rational admixture of musical andother entertaining numbers Avas added. In thisclass come VanCleaves elocutionary flights,and Millers dissertation on fishing Avould havebeen thus classed if it had not been too learnedand scholarly (?). Old Isaac Walton AvouldhaA7e paled Avith jealousy had he heard this discourse.On the night of April 22, the Daedaliansmade merry at the home of Mr. Lloyd Whelan.Good fellowship and hospitality flowed freely.The Avhirfwind of wit and merriment waslulled only by the serving of the eats. Afeature of the evening was a secret order initiation. Unlike usual initiations, no sore placeswere produced except the sore sides resultingfrom laughter. It is the opinion of the gueststhat.the Whelan home is a most excellent andhospitable home and that Lloyd makes a capitalhost.E. J. Hemmer was elected historian to fillthe vacancy occasioned by the departure ofJohn Eddy.At the same time Clarence Clayton waschosen music director Avhich position had beenheld previously by K. S. Mitchell.Mr. Mitchell was compelled to return homeafter a two weeks siege of illness. His absenceis generally noticed and regretted among thefellows. He returned to take charge of themusical program of the Inter-State debate.The society is glad to Avelcome back B. O.Wells, who has entered school after a successful year as superintendent at Montmorenci,Ind.Onis Horral is another old member that hasentered since last months report. Mr. Horralis here as a special student in chemistry.With the departure of Mr. Eddy the societyloses one of its veteran members. Mr. Eddyhas marched and fought under the Daedalianstandard almost from the time that that insignia was first erected. He Avas loyal andneAer slunk in camp when his services Avereneeded. Mr. Eddy sailed from San Franciscoon May 10. He carries with him the sincerestwishes for success that his fellow members canoffer. He is a patient Avorker and is bound tosucceed.FORUM.The work of the Forum during the pastmonth has been very successful. Such questions as: Good Books, Congress and the PresentTariff Bill, the California Question, have beendiscussed. During the month Messrs. Johnson,Fowler, Rightsell, and Harshman have held thechair. Preparations are being made for theAnnual spring Banquet and Dance, Avhich Avillbe given the last week of the term. Severalnew members have been taken into the society,Mr. Mercker,.one of the baseball men, and Mr.Johnson, the night state editor of the TerreHaute Star. Mr. Warren, who is a Normalsenior, was also taken into the society a shorttime ago.Mr. Mackel and Mr. Senour came back aftera years successful work.
