At last a meeting of the great facultybody was called, and in came Mr. Baxter a fewminutes late (This was the first time he wasever late at a faculty meeting.) Immediatelyhe was given a message to carry to Garcia.With two or three Brobdingnagian strides hereached the station, took a car and went to—nobody knows where. He was eager to returnThursday afternoon, but was entreated to remain just one day more. The following Monday morning Mr. Baxter was Johnnie-on-the-Spot, and nobody was sad.Miss Binford was called home February 21because of her mothers illness.Rev. C. B. Allen, of Louisville, Ky., visitedMiss Bertha Coakley February 1. Mr. Allenis doing social settlement work in Louisville,Ky.Mr. Schorling, 1902, received his A. B. degree from the University of Michigan 1911,and was honored with Phi Beta Kappa. In1912 he taught mathematics in the Indianapolis High School. This year he is teachingin the Chicago University High School andwill take his Masters degree in June.Mr. T. M. Miller, of Sidney, Ohio, was theguest of his sister-in-law, Miss Ruth Willcutts,at the play given by the Philomathean LiterarySociety, Friday, February 21. Mr Miller wasa member of the class of 1898.Mrs. Herbert Kritz and daughter, MissMary, visited Miss Charlotte Bertha Schweitzerduring February.Whack Wright and Noble Wilson havebeen exiled for a time from the halls of learning just at present. This sudden retirementfrom public life was due to the mumps.Miss Ruth Willcutts and Miss Elsie Lockeattended the basket ball game between IndianaUniversity and Northwestern, February 15.The advanced Latin classes spent a very delightful evening at the home of Dr. SchlicherFriday, March 7.Miss Rose Aldinger has taken charge of theLatin and English work at the Warren HighSchool. Miss Aldinger formerly taught thesixth grade at Warren.Miss Mamie Hollowell is studying kindergarten methods at Mrs. Blakers school in Indianapolis.Miss Jeannette Lewis has taken charge ofthe drawing and music at English, Indiana.President Parsons gave two interesting talksin chapel on the new vocational educationschool law. Some time ago, while the bill wasstill pending before the legislature, PresidentParsons spent a few mornings discussing itsprincipal features. In his last talks he took upthose phases of the law, which most closelytouch people preparing to teach, and the Normal school in its function of providing teachersfor the state. He spoke again of the efforts ofthe school to get funds for the new sciencebuilding, and of the intention of authorities tomake the most of the means at hand.Earl Asher, a former student of this school,and a member of the Forum, visited here, February 5. Mr. Asher has been teaching in thestate of Washington, but resigned because ofill-health and has returned to his home at Gos-port, Ind.Lee V. Brinton was in town, February 22.Mr. Brinton is teaching in the Oakland CityHigh School.The Normal Alumni picnic was held Saturday evening at six oclock in the associationrooms of the Normal.
