Many of our group were presentand thoroughly enjoyed themselves. To meet the growing demands of collegework, the literary department has added thisterm a new college course, viz: Two terms ofAnglo-Saxon Literature. The first term embraces the necessary work in Anglo-Saxongrammar with some selections in reading, whilethe second term is given up entirely to reading. This is strictly college work in its nature andis one of the required subjects at all the principal American universities. Hereafter oneterm of this work will be required of our graduates in the literature department. Miss Moranhas charge of the present class, and is carryingthe course parallel to that of Chicago University. Just now the class is reading some ofKing Arthurs translations and accounts offamous persons.ATHLETICSBASKETBALL.Basketball continues to be the chief athleticattraction during the winter months. Some interesting games have been played on the localfloor.Normal won her first varsity victory of theseason January 29, when she played Franklinat Terre Haute.
