Description: 260THE NORMAL ADVANCEALUMNIALUMNI HAVE A FROLIC.Bernard Shaws delightful comedy, Armsand the Man, was given an effective interpretation May 22 at the regular meeting of the TerreHaute State Normal Alumni Club in the auditorium of the training school of the State Normal by amateur talent. The eight local graduates of the State Normal who took part in theproduction were Miss Lucy Flinn as Raina,Mrs. Fannie M. Beach as Catherine Petkoff,W. H. Woodrow as Major Petkoff, W. O.Lynch as Major Sergius Saranoff, C. L. Fidlar as Captain Blutschli, Elizabeth Crawfordas Houka, W. D. Anderson as Nicola, and D.W. Werremeyer as Bulgarian Officer.A curtain and setting for the stage of theauditorium heightened the effect of the production. The acting was striking and fun provoking, so that the large audience of graduates andfriends gave undivided attention through threelong, uninterrupted acts. Ridiculous situationsonce or twice overcame the gravity of the actorsthemselves, at which times the entire houseburst forth into merriment. Misses Lucy Flinnand Elizabeth Crawford and Messrs C. L. Fidlar and W. O. Flynch made the best of frequent opportunities for effective work. Mrs.Fannie Beach and W. H. Woodrow emphasizedludicrous anticlimaxes in which they wereplaced.Officers of the Alumni Club elected for thecoming year were: James M. Tilley, president

Plans were seton foot for a program in the auditorium latein June during commencement week when members from over the state will be present and thegraduating class from the Normal will be admitted to membership.Mrs. Fannie A. Rhode Cobb, 82, is a residentof Winthrop, Ind.Mr. J. E. Evans, 07, who has been superintendent of schools at Cory, Ind., the past year,graduated his first class of seven from the highschool since it was commissioned.Mr. Hubert Nutt, 07, has been elected superintendent of schools at Monticello, Ky., fornext year. Mr. Nutt is doing work at I. S. N.at the present time.Mr. T. E. Williams, 07, is supervising principal of the McKinley High School at EastChicago, Ind. Sixteen teachers are under hissupervision.Mr. Louis W. Rapeer, 02, has.the principal-ship of a w7ard school in Minneapolis, Minn.Miss Anna L. Delzell, 96, is secretary andtreasurer of the Wood Creek and WilliamsF6rk Mining, Milling, Transportation andDrainage Co., with offices at Georgetown, Colorado.Miss Katherine Pfrimmer, 96, teaches in thepublic schools at Denver, Col.Miss Elizabeth Gerwig, 09, who finished herwork in the fall term, is teaching in Muncie,Ind. Miss Gerwig will be present to take partin the commencement exercises in June.Miss Isabelle Cadden, 08, has finished herwork at Orleans for this year and is attendingI. S. N.Mr. Edgar N. Haskins, 05, has just beenelected to the superintendency of Knox Countyto succeed Mr. W. M. Alsop, who recently resigned. ,Mr. Charles H. Phillips, 08, is attending I.S. N. this term, after completing a year of successful teaching.Mr. W. H. Rierchers, 99, is teaching manualtraining in the Chicago schools.Mr. Joseph F.
