THE NORMAL ADVANCE259members of the Section, have returned to finishtheir senior year.The new members voted into the Section thisterm are the Misses Margaret Carlton, NelleFitzgibbon, Zoe Justine Bodenhafer, Nelle BlyLogan and Caroline Crouch.The first degree of the initiation was given atthe home of Miss Manion. After the strenuouswork of the evening refreshments were servedand the after dinner speeches, songs and storiesby the new members furnished the eveningsentertainment. The second and third degreeswill be given May 20. The regular weeklymeeting has been changed to Thursday afternoon.PS I THETA.On April 17 the Psi Theta girls and theirfriends wTere entertained by the Misses Gloverand Stewart at 516 North Sixth street. Novelgames were played, after which dainty refreshments were served. A delightful evening wasspent and all joined in pronouncing the hostesses good entertainers.Officers for the spring term are: Leader,Miss Ethel Hyde secretary and treasurer, MissClaudia Chaillaux.Friday evening, April 30, Miss Ethel Hydegave an informal party in honor of the newmembers of the Section. Each girl wras calledupon to contribute something toward the evenings entertainment and the evening passed verypleasantly. The girls present were the MissesElla Englis, Ella Morford, Mabel Ward, NellieGlover, Ethel Hyde, Lela Stewart, ClaudiaChaillaux, Marie Tracy, Opal Cobel, BlancheRover, Penelope Shoup, Edna Campbell, Tres-sie Muchenburg, Jessie Orr and CharlotteArnold.SENIORS.Although no definite statement can yet be made,from present indications the class of 09 willconsist of about 110 members.The committees are all busy making arrangements for commencement week As soon as theothers have reported the Finance committeewill be able to make up the budget and levy theassessment. This will probably be done withinthe next few days.Considering the number of social functions,the class meetings have been well attended andinteresting programs have been rendered. OnFriday evening, May 14, the class met in business session and several important questionswere decided. The entertainment committeewas instructed to secure the Grand opera housefor the complimentary entertainment and thedeal w7as closed for caps and gowns. The nextregular meeting of the class will be held Friday,evening, May 28. In addition to the businessaffairs a literary and musical program will begiven. All Seniors are urged to attend.JUNIOR.On Friday evening, May 7, the Juniors metto attend their second regular meeting of theterm. The members present showed a dueamount of enthusiasm and class spirit. Themeeting was favored with the following well-rendered program:Piano Solo .Miss RedmanReading Mr. VancleveVocal Solo Mr. LydicayPiano Solo Miss StanleyVocal Solo Miss RobbinsMiss Jessie Smith, who favored the class witha beautiful piano solo at its first meeting, wrasforced to withdraw from school on account ofher eyes. By her withdrawal, the class losesone of its most gifted members and it hopesthat she will soon be able to re-enter.The Junior class is pleased to have 195 members enrolled in its ranks and it urges everymember to show his loyalty to the class by attending its meetings. |
