Dearborn, 00, was a business visitor, January 19. He is a representative of theAmerican Manual Training Company of Chicago.Miss Jeanne Guffigan w7as called to her homein Muncie, January 15, by the serious illness ofher grandmother. She returned January 17.The boilers of the heating and power plantwTere inspected January 9, and as a consequencethe building was closed the whole day.Fifteen new chemical jars have been placedin the most unprotected parts of the building asa further precaution against fire. I. S. N. isnow well equipped with fire apparatus, hosebeing on each floor, and seven fire escapes leading from the upper floors to the ground.A fine and valuable collection of butterflieshas been received in the Zoological Department. Much comment is being made on thebeauty and completeness of the collection.Professor Charman delivered the Commencement address at the Fairbanks school of thiscity, January 21. Professor Engleman alsogave the Commencement address at the Raeschool on the same evening.The enrollment for the winter term is 506, ofwhom 62 are in the College Course.The stone work on the new library is nearlycomplete. The entrance is yet to be placed.As soon as the weather will permit the entirebuilding will be brushed and pointed up.Eighty students are enrolled in the practiceclasses this term. One is taking third termpractice, 39 second term, and 43 first term.Three of these are doing both first and secondterms together. Seventeen are working in thehigh school, the rest in the grades. In the highschool six are teaching mathematics, five science, four Latin, one history and one English.The practice work in the rural training schoolbegan last week and the first group of five wasinitiated. There are seven groups. The observation class is also very large, eighty being enrolled.Prof. Kimmell has been unable to meet hisclasses until last wreek on account of illness.STUDENTS, HO!Student: (to Editor of Advance) .
