Fifth street last week.By the quick work of the fire department it wasextinguished before much damage was done. Atthe time nearly all the young men rooming therewere at school and it was fortunate that they escaped without loss.We are very sorry to report in this issue thedeath of one of our students, Miss Leora Anderson, who died here January 21, 1903. Miss Andersons home was at Poland, Clay County., Ind.She entered the State Normal last September andwas secretary of the Freshmen Class during thefall term. She was a very ambitious student, andpossessed a cheerful disposition which made hervery popular among her many friends. Her sudden death was due to a congestion of the brain.Her parents and relatives have the sincere sympathy of the entire faculty and student body intheir sad bcreavment,Society and Societies.YOUNG MENS CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATION.Much the same policy in the different lines ofwork is being followed this term as in the fallterm. The same courses in Bible study are offered and several of the entering students havebegun the first years work.With the beginning of this term, also, there isquite an increase in the already comparativelylarge number of members.At the last Cabinet meeting a nominating committee consisting of Messrs. F. W. Miles, E, C.Stopher and J. B. Hessong was appointed to makenominations for the various offices of the association for the coming year, which begins with thespring term. It w7as also decided at this meetingto give a social to the members of the Y. M. C. A.in the near future.The lecture given on January 24 by a formerJewish Rabbi on the Talmud, was well attendedand was very interesting and instructive.
