56THE NORMAL ADVANCE.Honorary Alpha —Miss Hill.Gamma Gamma—Miss Duenweg.Myosotis—Miss Sipp.Sigma Beta—Miss McKenley.Zeta— Miss Weyl.Delta—Miss Woody.Honorary—Miss Webster.Sota—Miss Benedict.Omega—Miss Peterson.Saturday evening, December 6, the League gavea general reception to all the girls in the school.The reception was in the hands of the sections,each one presiding at a booth, arranged in somepart of the association room. The booths werequite tastefully decorated in the section colorswith the name in a conspicous place. A committee presided at each booth and welcomed theguests as they arrived. The association room presented quite a novel and pleasing appearance. Thechief feature of the evening was a charade contest. Each section acted a charade and the guestsserved as judges. Some of the ideas were quiteclever and original. The vote gave the Gamma-Gammas first place, Alphas second, and Zetas andMyosotis, third.After the contest, chocolate and wafers wereserved to the guests from the booths.The Myosotis section was pleasantly entertainedby Misses Dodson, Schnieb, Koontz, White andRush at the home of Miss Dodson, Saturday afternoon, November 22nd. The afternoon was spentin games. Dainty refreshments were served.ALPHA.One of the most delightful receptions tenderedthe Alphas this season was the initial receptiongiven by one of the patronesses, Miss Helen Layman, at her beautiful home in Collett Park Place.Miss Anna Keating assisted in receiving. Lightrefreshments were served, and interesting amusements were indulged in, such as ping pong, cards,and story telling.A former patroness, Mrs. 0. R. Dryer, favoreda number of the Alphas with invitations for anAt Home to meet Miss Clare Dryer.Misses Hoffman and White entertained theAlpha Chapter and a few friends Saturday, November 22nd, at the home of Miss Hoffman onOhio street. The parlors were decorated withyellow and white chrysanthemums. Euchre wasthe diversion of the afternoon and four prettyprizes were awarded the successful players. Awater-color and a silver hat pin were won byMisses Cox and Hill Two Van Revels, MissesShryer and Anderson. Miss Bigelow succeeded incarrying off the free-for-all prize, a bunch of flowers, tied with yellow ribbon.A delicious two-course supper was served afterthe games.Those invited besides the members of the chap-Those invited besides the members of the chapterand its patronesses were Mrs. Carry, Misses Layman and Keating, were Misses Anderson, White-nack, Cox, Moran, Head, Hill, Curry, Beste, Os-trander, Gwyn and Hensel.NORMAL CHORUS.One of the most flourishing and progressivesocieties of the school is that known as the Normal Chorus. At the beginning of the term, thisbody of fifty singers organized themselves into aclub, for the purpose of social and musical interests to be directed by Miss Parr.A constitution was drawn up and signed byeach member, which binds him, if he is to be inschool all year, to remain and aid in the Commencement music.Rehearsals are held each morning. Any student is admitted to the organization upon recommendation of the director, and compliance withthe constitution.The following are the officers:Director—Miss Parr.Secretary—Miss Parks.Treasurer—Mr. Snyder.Business Committee—Mr. Stopher, Mr. Snyderand Prof. Kelso.Besides chapel music, the chorus offers some raremusical treats during the school 3rear. It will assist the training school in an entertainment thisterm. A Relaxation Concert will be given afterthe holidays and in the spring the opera, The |
